It's the perfect balance between light weight, stiffness, and aerodynamics. Adjustable bearings, unique rear truing system allows you to tune them like a fine instrument. For the highest performance on the road, Mavic uses 12K carbon fiber rims with ultra light foam core;  unidirectional carbon fiber; one piece rim to rim molded; front hub shell, and even the spokes, all of which are co-molded and/or bonded together to form a single structure. The spokes are bonded directly to the inner walls of the 40mm-deep tubular-only carbon rims.  The need for spoke holes is completely eliminated, and the addition of a sealed valve hole makes the rims totally weatherproof. The Cosmic Carbone Premium integrates all the benefits of its brother wheel, the Cosmic Carbone SL and adds a few more benefits.  Mavic uses titanium parts (axle nut, skewers) to make it even lighter and better. The Mavic R-SYS features carbon fiber spokes which lightens up the overall weight of the wheels and provides less stress to the wheel.  Another benefit by using carbon spokes, Mavic was able to use a  light rim.  The front wheel weighs 570g and the rear weighs 785g.  16 spokes in the front and 20 at the rear.  Available in Tubular and Clincher. TracompTM technology prevents lost of tension on spokes to maintain high stiffness under high loads. Mavic Ksyrium Premium SL
 

For 2008, Mavic offers the Mavic Ksyrium SL Premium wheels.  Incorporating all the technical features of the highly successful Mavic Ksyrium ES, Mavic has lighten the overall weight by using titanium axles and skewers. The front hub body is made from carbon fiber with Maxtal black rims. The front wheel weighs 645g and the rear weighs 835g. Another new feature is the different rim heights of 22m front and 25mm rear.
